Quintavia DeShay is in her fifth year as an Assistant Director at Themer Middle School! Bands under her direction have consistently received UIL "Sweepstakes" awards. 

 

Born and raised in Austin Texas, and a proud first-generation graduate, she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Music Education from Stephen F. Austin State University, graduating Magna Cum Laude. Ms. DeShay excelled as a tuba player for the University's Bands/Roarin’ Buzzsaws, and served as both Undergraduate Teaching Assistant for the Lumberjack Marching Band and a Band Manager. Upon graduation, she was honored with the Outstanding Senior in Instrumental Music Education Award. 

 

This past summer, Ms. DeShay served as a conductor in a tour across Europe for The Sound of the Lone Star State organized by Music Adventures International. 

 

Ms. DeShay is professionally affiliated with the Texas Music Educators Association, Texas Bandmasters Association, Young Band Directors of Texas, and International Tuba Euphonium Association.
