Zach Bixler

Biography

Zach Bixler is a tuba player and private lesson teacher in North Austin and holds a bachelor’s degree in music education from Texas Tech University. During his time at Texas Tech, He studied with Dr. Kevin Wass, an internationally respected pedagogue and member of the tuba euphonium community. During his time in Lubbock, Zach was a substitute tuba for the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra, the principal tuba player in the Hub City Brass Quintet, and co-principal tuba in the Matador Brass Tuba Euphonium Quartet.

Zach has been a private lesson teacher in Austin, Texas since 2022 and has maintained a studio of more than 70 students since then. As a native of Round Rock, Texas, he is a product of the Texas band experience, and enjoys guiding his students through the challenges that can pose. He has also enjoyed teaching with the Austin based tuba and euphonium camp, Teupha Camp, since 2018.

Outside of teaching, Zach is an avid reader, and he can often be found in the middle of a book. He also enjoys spending time with his wife, friends, and dog, as well as playing disc golf at many local parks. Some of his favorite book series are The Wheel of Time by Robert Jordan, and The Malazan Book of The Fallen by Steven Erikson.


Zach currently lives in Cedar Park with his wife, Kandace, and their dog, Lady.
